Analú María López

Analú María López (Huachichil/Xi’úi) is a Librarian, Photographer, and Writer living in Šikaakonki, Zhigaagoong, Zhekagoynak, or so called “Chicago.” This land is and will always be Indigenous land.

Born and raised on the Southwest side of Chicago in the neighborhood of La Villita (Little Village), where she still resides. She is interested in intentional community collaborations, uplifting historically underrecognized Indigenous narratives, preservation and revitalization of Indigenous languages, Decolonial theory, and Native botany and medicines. She holds a Master of Library and Information Sciences with a certificate in Archives and Cultural Heritage Resources and Services from Dominican University and a Bachelor of Arts in Photography with a minor in Latin-American Studies from Columbia College Chicago. Currently, she works at the Newberry Library of Chicago as the Ayer Librarian and Assistant Curator of American Indian and Indigenous Studies. Download a copy of her Resume.

Analú María López (Huachichil/Xi’úi) es bibliotecaria, fotógrafa, y escritora viviendo en Šikaakonki, Zhigaagoong, Zhekagoynak, o “Chicago.” Esta tierra es y será siempre tierra indígena.

Nacida y criada en el lado suroeste de Chicago en el barrio de La Villita, donde todavía reside, está interesada en narrativas indígenas históricamente subrepresentadas, preservación y revitalización de lenguas indígenas, teoría decolonial (dentro de bibliotecas y museos), y Plantas nativas y medicinas. Tiene una Maestría en Bibliotecología y Ciencia de la Información con un certificado en Archivos y Recursos y Servicios de Patrimonio Cultural de Dominican University y una Licenciatura en Fotografía con una especialización en Estudios Latinoamericanos de Columbia College Chicago. Actualmente, trabaja en la Biblioteca Newberry de Chicago como Bibliotecaria y Asistente de curadora de Estudios Indígenas para la colección Ayer.
