I am very fortunate and appreciate to have some great individuals in my life like my noyoliknin (brother of the heart) Victorino who I could collaborate on projects related to the Nahuatl language. Our article was recently published in the Newberry Library’s magazine and it’s possibly the very first time the Newberry has ever published an article in an Indigenous language! And we want to stress that this is a contemporary variant of Nahuatl not the Colonial/16th century Nahuatl that is often published. I will be updating this post as soon as our blog post goes live on the Newberry’s website. More soon!
The article focuses on a recent acquisition we added to our American Indian and Indigenous Studies manuscripts here at the Newberry. The acquisition is a 17th-18th century Nahuatl comedic play about a grandmother, grandson, turkey’s and a jug of potent pulque.
